Vintage Harmony Bobkat 1960s Silvertone Kay. Up for sale is my vintage Harmony Bobkat which is a beautiful guitar. There has been many changes made to this guitar, but these changes make it a one of a kind. This guitar has been heavily modified, but with solid modifications. The headstock was sanded/cut down. The tuners and pick ups are Schaller, Made in Germany. The hum bucket pick ups appear to come from the 1980a and has coil taps switching from single coil to hum bucket on each pick up. The switches have some issues at times which could be dust or starting to wear out, but I can always get it switched to go in either mode. All pots were upgraded. A newer bridge has been added. I believe the finish has been changed to a stained finish. There is a surface crack on the back of the headstock where the low E tuner sits extending from where it was screwed into the wood. There is a shallow notch in the back of the neck which is pictured. It comes with the pictured hard case which was built to house the guitar on the inside. The faux alligator Tolex is peeling in places. All latches work on the case. The lock on the case has no key. The handle is good.
Measurements on guitar: 24” from nut to bridge. Neck is 17” long and 2” wide, Guitar is 36” long from tip of headstock to end of guitar body. The body is 16” from upper horn to butt of guitar. Widest part of body is 12”.
I call the guitar a Harmony Bobkat based on some for the features, but it may be one of the “other” brands that put out similar guitars to the Bobkat in the 60’s like Silvertone, Kay, etc. I have explained all the details of this guitar to the best of my ability. I liked playing the guitar but it’s time to downsize. I should be placing a few more guitars for sell. Selling this guitar as is and will not accept returns on this item due to its age and rarity. Please ask questions prior to purchase. Will ship I the hard shell case with string de-tuned.
