On offer here is
RARE GROUP OF 67 ORIGINAL CONTINENTAL AIRLINES HISTORICAL
PHOTOS
DATING FROM THE 1940'S TO ABOUT THE LATE 60'S. We believe this group of images is from the effects of Continental Airlines Executive VP of Marketing Charles Bucks, but are not 100% certain. It was most
definitely
a Los Angeles area Continental Airlines Executive because the quantity and quality of the 8 x 10 images is remarkable. Please view the extra added photos below to get a clearer ideal of what's included.
Some of the great images we noticed were:
- The FIRST Convair Model 440 (taken about January 1956) off the line at Convair's factory in San Diego. (
''....the first of three of the new, fast, quiet 44 passenger twin-engine airliners ordered by C.A.L....
")
- An original photo of Continental Airlines Founder and longtime CEO Robert Six as a Lt. Col in the Army Air Force.
- An interesting photo of the (first ?) Continental Hangar at LAX in 1959
- 1955 photo of an early Continental 240 (?) at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport
- A late 1940's photo of 'Chief Hostess' Peg Booker aboard a Convair 240
- 1957 photo of passengers boarding a DC-7
- A 1944 (?) photo of a 4,000 lb Demolition bomb purchased by the Continental employees (marked 'To Tojo !') with the intent to send it to Japan
- Late 40's - Early 50's Continental hostess training mockup
- 1957 photo of a DC-7 being refueled and loaded with luggage.
- 1963 photo of Continental Executive VP Harding Lawrence with American flying ace, Eddie Rickenbacker
- Photo of CEO Robert Six painting his name on a newly manufactured plane
- CEO Robert Six and attorney Sheldon Cooper examine a 'Turbo Wasp' engine.
- And much, much more.....
This archive of images represents an important opportunity for Continental Airlines collectors to obtain original Continental images of a quality not usually encountered. These are easily among the best Continental Airlines historical images available anywhere in commerce.
